Book Week

Dress Up Day and Parade
It was incredible to see so many of our students and staff dressed as their favourite fictional characters at our annual Book Week dress up day and parade. Thank you to all the members of our school community who came along to our special assembly.
This year our Book Week dress up event raised money for Reading Out of Poverty (ROOP), an Australian registered charity and not-for-profit organisation which aims to close the literacy gap and bring the joy of reading to Indigenous children living in remote communities in Far North Queensland. Our generous Mackellar community raised an incredible $178 through gold coin donations! This money will be donated to help build five pop-up libraries with access to over 2500 books.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair returned to Mackellar during Book Week and was another tremendous success! It was fantastic to see so many families visit and purchase new books to read and enjoy. Thank you to those who came along to support the Book Fair, a percentage of the profits from this will go towards purchasing new books for our school library.
We look forward to having the Book Fair return to Mackellar in 2026.
