Upcoming events:
Anti-Bullying Incursion - 14th August
Reminders:
Please remember that homework books and take-home book diaries are due at school on Mondays. It would be great to see all students meeting their homework requirements. Please remember to come to school with a fully charged iPad on a Wednesday morning, as this will support Mr. Davidson with the smooth running of Digital Technology. Your child has commenced Visual Art classes this semester. If they don’t have an art smock, can you please supply them with one. Production is upcoming fast, please begin sending your child’s back skivvy into school.
English:
This term, our reading and writing has revolved around information reports. Each week, Grade 3 have explored a new text, breaking it up to understand the different sections. Our students have not only dissected an information report, but they have been learning lots of new and factual pieces of information! Be sure to ask your child about the different types of bears or dinosaurs in the coming weeks! During the second half of this term, we will begin unpacking explanation texts. This will allow us to explain the how and why behind our writing.
Maths:
In our number unit, students are developing understanding and proficiency in multiplication and relating that to division facts. Grade 3 have also explored a range of strategies to efficiently solve problems involving large numbers. Students are using arrays to represent their number sentences.
In our non-number units, we are learning to estimate and compare the mass of everyday objects found inside our classroom! We have not only estimated but put our estimations to the test by weighing objects with scales. We will soon begin learning about map reading!
Inquiry:
In Science, Grade 3 have been learning all about the water cycle.
