Phoenix House

Welcome Back to Term 3.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce some Phoenix students to the St John's Community.

"The experience of being a Phoenix student in semester 1 2025 was very amusing and exciting.  The Aquatics and Athletics Carnivals were lots of fun. Even though Phoenix did not finish in first place at the Carnivals, I think we had the best House Spirit out of all the other Houses. Phoenix has lots of spirit but not enough participation in events.

In future, Phoenix students need to improve in participation of events at the Carnivals.

I strongly encourage all Phoenix students to be actively involved in all House Competition events and fundraising activities.

Keep up the good work Phoenix House."

Praharsha W, Ph1 Year 10

"Being in Phoenix House has taught me values that will stick with me, not just for high school, but for the rest of my life. Phoenix is known for coming last in school events, but despite this, we always keep trying our hardest the next year. Being in last place all the time doesn't feel the best, but it teaches the best lessons. From this hardship, I have learned perseverance, hope, and resilience. These values have moulded my mindset and given me a new outlook on failure. Our losses allowed me to understand that not everything you lose is a loss.  I have gained knowledge and motivation to do better next time, rather than sadness and anger.

On a positive note, Phoenix has won the House Spirit award numerous times. This demonstrates our unwavering House spirit. We have found another way to be the best House, not by the ribbons on our shirts, but to be heard through our spirited chants."

Phoebe C, Ph2 Year 11

"Being a Phoenix student throughout the years has been fun. Phoenix has the best house spirit. I feel proud to be a part of the Red House. The Phoenix team is inspiring and does a lot of fundraising events, which is a fun and encouraging thing for the students. Our pastoral lessons are fun because it is a time for us to chat about ourselves and also learn new things about others. Pastoral sessions are very engaging and interesting. Phoenix is just an amazing house. We might not be good at competitions, but we strive really hard to do our best.

Keep doing your best, Phoenix team, we see your hard work and appreciate it."
