Farewell, Mrs Noelle Leader!

This week we farewelled one of our long serving and much loved admin team members, Mrs Noelle Leader. Mrs Leader has worked at the school for the past 14 years, spending nearly 10 years working alongside Mrs Holland caring for our Junior School families. From the moment they arrive at the school, our families were welcomed by Mrs Leader.

Thousands of students have passed through Junior School Reception to be cared for with Mrs Leader’s magic spray or to receive a well placed bandaid or to ring parents for forgotten bathers or musical instruments. We will all miss having Mrs Leader’s smiling face and kind words in the Junior School Reception but wish her well as she moves onto a new challenge.

Chess Competition Results

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Northern Star Chess Championships with eight of our keen Year 5 and 6 Chess players. Our players were Ahaan Tadakamadla, Yohan Shetty, Anvay Rao, Liam Wood, Reyansh Kulkarni, Leo Faganel, Archer Hubbard and Raphael Zhao. Four of our team had never played in a competitive tournament previously. There was some very good competition with some schools attending that include chess as a daily activity for all of their students. 

The competition consisted of seven rounds with a maximum playing time of 15 minutes per player. The top four scores from each team contributed to the team score for each round. After seven rounds, our team was named Champion Team for the competition with a score of 21.5. Particular congratulations to Ahaan Tadakamadla who was awarded Champion Player for the tournament with a score of seven, and was undefeated for the tournament.

Victorian Swimming Championships

Congratulations to all of our Primary Students who competed in the Victorian Country Swimming Championships that were held in Bendigo last weekend. Particular congratulations to Sophie Lee in Year 6 who won five gold medals and one silver medal at the Championships and broke two Victorian records. An incredible effort!
