Grade 3/4 News

It’s been a busy Term 1 and as we approach the school holidays we have found some time for colourful reflection.
Students in LC3 participated in an activity whereby they manipulated a coloured strip of paper in different ways to represent a reflective statement that was true for them this term. They shaped paper into arches, spirals, and zigzags. Some of the reflective statements included specialist subjects they have enjoyed, LC3 programs and activities they have participated in, and things they are looking forward to in Term 2.
On Friday the 20th of March, children and staff were encouraged to wear cultural dress or orange in celebration of Harmony Day. Our theme for this year was ‘Culture Connects us all’, and students were encouraged to bring and share a plate of food from their home country. There was plenty of food to sample at our LC3 picnic, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the festivities. Thank you to families who kindly sent their child along with a plate of food to share.
In other news, our grade 3 students are to be commended on their efforts in completing their first NAPLAN. It can be a tiring process, with various tests held over multiple days during a two-week period, requiring a substantial amount of concentration.
Friday afternoons this year have been what we like to call ‘Genius Hour’. During Term 1, we have had a focus on developing ICT skills such as touch typing, saving documents, inserting images in word, using keyboard shortcuts and eSafety.
Lastly, this Thursday will be the final day of Term. We will be celebrating with a ‘Easter Hat Parade’ in the morning and students will be finishing for the day at 2.30pm. Have a safe and happy holidays!
