Message from our Principal
Mr Mark Pollard
Dear Silverton families,
I’d like to start my newsletter by congratulating our Year 3 and Year 5 students for their effort during NAPLAN testing. A big thank you to our staff who supported our students through NAPLAN. Results are expected in June.
Our children have had some fantastic opportunities this Term. On the 5th March we had a group of students attend the Formula One Grand Prix at Albert Park. On the same day, we also had a group of students attend the Marine Ambassadors excursion to Sorrento. They had an amazing day snorkeling and watching dolphins.
Congratulations to the students who competed at Division Swimming on the 18th March. A fantastic effort from all students! Archie Rickard has now progressed through to regional level and we are wishing him all the very best!
A big thank you to Soliya and Skylar, our #SSS Squad Captains as well as Mrs Howard for their efforts in organising a brilliant Harmony Day on Friday 20th March. It was a beautiful day with so many children wearing either their cultural dress or some orange to support the day. Thank you to our students but also parents/carers for organising some beautiful food to be brought in for the day!
Play the Silverton Way was held on Wednesday 18th March. This session was the first of our 2027 Foundation transition sessions. It was well attended and we were very excited to welcome some of our 2027 Foundation cohort to the school for their first time. A big thank you to all staff who planned and ran the session and to our student leaders who also supported. The next session will be our STEM afternoon scheduled for Wednesday 29th April at 4:00pm.
This week our Year 6 students are at Camp Kookaburra. We hope our Year 6 staff, students (and their Principal) are having a great time!
On Monday, Silverton hosted the Silverton and Yarra Valley E-sports tournament. Thank you to Mr Tang for organising the event. Congratulations to all the students who competed!

I’m very proud to announce that Silverton PS has achieved our Bronze level certificate in School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). Congratulations to all of our students for their efforts in displaying Silverton’s expected behaviours. I also want to congratulate Mrs Howard, the SWPBS team and all Silverton staff for their continued efforts in the SWPBS space.
The building project is progressing well. LC4 and the Instrumental Portable now have new roofs and as I’m sure you would have noticed, the admin building is the next to be worked on. This will be completed over the upcoming school holidays. During Term Two, LC5 and the Activities Room will have new roofs put on. Team Kids will be using LC5 for the before and after school care while the Activities Room is being worked on. I will update you when this is going to happen.
Thursday (2nd April) is the last day of Term One. The Easter Parade and raffle will be held in the courtyard at 9:15am. If you have ordered Hot Cross Buns, these will be handed out on Thursday (orders have now closed).
A reminder that school finishes at 2:30pm on Thursday.
I hope everyone enjoys school holidays and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 20th April at 8:50am for assembly.
Thank you,
Mark Pollard – Principal
