Celebrating Literacy Week
Head of Library & Digital Services - Helen Stower

Last week we celebrated Literacy Week with a fantastic range of activities and an incredible level of student participation. On Monday and Tuesday, more than 355 students took part in the knock-out spelling rounds, showing impressive spelling skills with great enthusiasm. It was a spell-tacular event!

On Wednesday, the library hosted a lively trivia session, run by some of our fabulous Year 12 students, who kept everyone entertained and thinking hard.

Thursday’s assembly featured the exciting Spelling Bee Finale, where Year 9 student Eadie Janison took home the Spelling Bee trophy – well done!

Later that afternoon, 20 students participated in a creative writing workshop with author Carla Salmon, developing new skills in establishing purposeful settings, characterising in depth, and learning tricks of the publishing industry.

We wrapped up the week on Friday with student musical performances in the library, creating a wonderful celebration of creativity and expression.
