Principal's report

Dr Lisa Vinnicombe

Welcome back to students, families, and members of the JFC community!

It's hard to believe that we have already reached week 5!

We have had a very settled start to the year, with only a couple of changes in staffing, and clear expectations for the year ahead. Congratulations to the students for a great effort with uniform, books and equipment this year.

We have two new teachers - (i) Ms Liberty Warren, who has replaced Perri Graves on family leave, and (ii) Mr Albert Jiang, who has replaced Mr Samuel Ji who left at the end of 2025. Also, a very warm welcome back to Ms Victoria Bablis, who is here two days a week as the Mental Health Practitioner in the wellbeing office.

The first whole school event this year was the swimming sports and we had our best participation yet, which is very pleasing. Thank to Mr Zhu for his organisation of the day and a fantastic participation rate from our students.

On Thursday this week, we will run a whole school assembly to congratulate our school leaders and the champions from the swimming sports. We will also acknowledge the wonderful achievement of Myesha Syeda who is our second Kwong lee Dow scholar. See later in the newsletter for more about this.

Our school captains, Will and Yomin, will run the assembly, along with the SMAD team. The following week, we will hold a short assembly when the SMAD team will outline the events we have planned to celebrate International Women's Day in the following week.

We are proud of the growth in our students and their willingness to continue to lead events in the school which are part of our Human Rights approach to education. Please keep informed about coming events which will always be publicised in this newsletter and on Compass newsfeeds.

We hope to run an Open Day this year, for the first time since the building commenced two years ago. More inormation will follow but at this point, the tentative date is Wednesday 1st April.

This newsletter highlights some of the wonderful work and activities the students have undertaken in the past four weeks. Enjoy reading!
