The First taste of Food Tech

What an amazing start to the year in Food Technology! Our Year 7 students are absolutely rocking it!

From the very first lesson, students have shown fantastic participation; asking thoughtful questions, taking clear notes, and engaging actively in our theory sessions. We began by building strong foundations, learning about kitchen safety, hygiene, cross-contamination, and knife safety. It has been wonderful to see how seriously students are taking these essential skills.

 

But we didn’t stop at theory!

In our first practical lesson, students confidently used a knife for the first time in the kitchen, demonstrating safe techniques while cutting vegetable batons. They showed focus, care, and great attention to detail. It was impressive and proud to see them apply what we had learned in class so quickly!!

We have also explored measurement skills and kitchen equipment, ensuring students understand how to measure accurately and use tools correctly. And to make things even more exciting, we used the air fryers in our very first cooking session! Students were

 enthusiastic, responsible, and eager to learn.

 

It has truly been a fantastic start. Ms Zlata and I are so proud of how Year 7 has embraced Food Tech with curiosity, responsibility, and positivity.

 

We can’t wait to see what they cook up next!
