Christian Meditation at St James
At St James students participate in Christian Meditation 4 days per week. This is a calming way for students to begin their day. Below are a range of the benefits of Christian Meditation.
10 Benefits of Christian Meditation
- It helps us feel closer to God Taking quiet time helps us remember that God is always with us. “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
- It helps us think deeply about the Bible Meditation gives us time to slow down and think about what God’s Word means for our lives. “Your word is a lamp for my feet.” (Psalm 119:105)
- It helps us feel calm and peaceful Quiet prayer can help us feel less worried and more peaceful inside. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)
- It helps us listen to God, not just talk Christian meditation teaches us that prayer is also about listening. “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:10)
- It helps us focus better Being still and quiet helps our minds learn to concentrate. “Set your minds on things above.” (Colossians 3:2)
- It helps us understand our feelings Quiet time with God helps us think about how we are feeling and why. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18)
- It helps us practise patience and self-control Learning to be still helps us wait calmly and make better choices. “Be patient and kind.” (1 Corinthians 13:4)
- It helps us make kind and loving choices Thinking about Jesus’ teachings helps us act with love and respect. “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31)
- It reminds us that God loves us Meditation helps us remember that we are cared for and never alone. “Nothing can separate us from God’s love.” (Romans 8:39)
- It helps us care for others Spending time with God encourages us to help and serve people around us. “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)
