Principal's Post

Dear Families,
We have made it to the final week of the term by all working together and supporting one another in academic, emotional, spiritual and social settings. Our new Preps are so settled in their learning environments and have progressed very well in their academic learning and in transitioning into life at St James. One could be forgiven for thinking they had been here for twelve months! At the other end of the school, our Year Six students have displayed exceptional leadership and set a wonderful example to the school community of how we behave and act at school. As a whole school community, we have adopted many behaviours described on the new matrix which lists the behaviours students are expected to display at school. Socially, the Cinema Night was a huge success and managed to raise a few dollars for our Parents and Friends committee which will go towards resurfacing the lower "mud pit" grassed area.
Congratulations to all our wonderful students who participated so enthusiastically in our whole school cross country on Friday. Despite a blustery start, thankfully the weather remained dry and all races were completed on time and with minimal fuss. Congratulations to all those who made it through to District. And to everyone else, great effort by each and everyone of you. Thanks to all the parents who came along to support and a huge thanks to Catherine Wall for managing the event and to Antoinette Moroney for all her work ensuring that first aid was triaged seamlessly.
Holy Week Celebrations at St James
Last Friday we gathered in prayer led by our Year Ones remembering Palm Sunday when Jesus travelled by donkey back to Jerusalem.
This morning we were led in prayer by our Year Threes as we remembered the events of Holy Thursday and The Last Supper.
Throughout the next two days, classes will be visiting the Year Five led prayer spaces dedicated to the Stations of the Cross, depicting the journey Jesus took from being condemned to death to his body being laid in the tomb.

Prep 2027 Enrolments
Our last Open Day of the term is tomorrow. If you have a child due to commence Prep next year please complete the application for enrolment form on our website prior to the end of the term to keep a place for your child. Please take some time to complete the enrolment form online here. Thanks to everyone who has completed these in the last few weeks.
Child Safe Standards
With the importance and commitment that we place on student safety as a school system, please take the time to read and familiarise yourself with the information in the
Child Safe Standard Four Parent/Carer Newsletter.
Head Lice
Unfortunately there have been a few cases of head lice discovered in various levels throughout the school, particularly years five and two. Thank you parents who have reported this and treated their children.
Please check your child's hair and treat appropriately. The holidays should give us a good break from transferring from child to child.
Parent Student Teacher Learning Conferences
We are looking forward to this opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with parents this Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd April as the three stakeholders come together to celebrate student learning. Learning Conferences will take place in the Reynolds Community Centre. Please remember to keep to your ten minute time slot. We ring the bell to help keep everyone to the time. Also please remember that either parent or teacher may politely request the student to move back to the waiting area if a private discussion without the student present is necessary.
Things to note:
Unfortunately, because minimum numbers were not reached, MACSEYE OHSC will NOT be available on Thursday 2 April.
Tomorrow is our Year 5/6 Gala Summer Sports Day.
If you have ordered Easter Hot Cross Buns as part of our P&F Fundraiser, please collect these at the community centre On Wednesday 1st April from 3pm.
And remember, no school for students on Thursday or Friday.
Have a great week, a faith filled Holy Week and Easter and a wonderful holiday break.
Dave
