Senior Secondary School

Thank you to our students on your work in Term 1 assessment, which for all senior year levels is a stressful and sometimes overwhelming time. We hope that your results are a reflection of your application across all of our academic studies. As families start to receive interim report cards for Year 10 and later Unit 1 and Unit 3 report cards across Year 11 and 12, we greatly encourage you to reach out with any questions around senior pathways and outcomes. Year 12’s in particular will have their first round of ATAR predictions and QCE conversations late in Term 2, which signal the start of the tertiary application process.

STUDY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

With assessment approaching, senior students are encouraged to make use of the study skills resources available on the school assessment page

These resources provide practical support for preparing effectively across all subject areas and can help students build strong study habits.

STUDY STRATEGY SPOTLIGHT: CHUNK AND CHEW

A great place to start is Chunk and Chew, an evidence-based strategy that encourages students to break information into manageable sections, then pause to process what they have learned by summarising, questioning, discussing or making links. This helps reduce ‘cognitive load’ and supports students to move learning into long-term memory. The downloadable chunk and chew resource recommends breaking larger study tasks into smaller sections and allocating time to each part.

Across the year, our newsletter will continue to highlight practical study strategies students can use with confidence to maximise success.
