E-Bike Safety Program Update

Recently, we shared information about the introduction of our E-Bike Safety Program, developed in response to strong community interest and the importance of promoting safe and responsible e-bike use among our students.
Since then, there have been important developments at a state level. The Queensland Government is progressing legislative reforms following the Parliamentary Inquiry into E-mobility Safety and Use in Queensland. These changes are expected to provide clear and consistent guidelines around e-bike use, including rider eligibility, device standards and enforcement, with legislation anticipated to come into effect from 1 July.
Given this evolving landscape, we have made the decision to pause the implementation of our E-Bike Safety Program in its current form to ensure it aligns fully with forthcoming legislation and state-wide expectations.
As a result:
- Identification plates will not be issued at this time
- The Parent Information Evening scheduled for Monday 30 March has been postponed
- Plate-based parking requirements will not proceed at this stage
We would like to sincerely thank our community for the strong support shown towards this initiative. Importantly, we are very pleased that more than 500 students have already participated in safety education sessions, equipping them with valuable knowledge about responsible riding practices that will continue to support their safety.
We will continue to monitor developments closely and will provide updates as further guidance becomes available from the Government and the Queensland Department of Education.
In the meantime, we encourage all students and families to continue prioritising safe and responsible e-bike use.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the safety and success of our students.
