Division and Region Athletics Shepparton
Last Monday, 22 students represented Sacred Heart at the annual Division Athletics in Shepparton.
It was a fantastic day of best efforts, personal bests and fair and supportive competition.
Well done to everyone involved!
Mia, Mitchell, Marco and Emily all qualified for the recently run Region Sports in Albury.
The Regions were a very competitive day with Marco placing 5th in the Triple Jump, Mitchell placing 4th in the hurdles and Mia placing 1st in the Discus. An amazing effort from all!
Mia is now off to the State Athletics in Melbourne on the 6th of November. Good luck!
Tennis Coaching
As part of a successful Sporting Schools grant, Sacred Heart students have had tennis coach David Starling here running some coaching and skills with all students this week.
The tennis equipment will also be upgraded with new racquets, balls and nets.
See below for some photos.
STEM
Full Speed Ahead with Forces!
Grade 3/4 – Forces Unit Last term, our Grade 3/4 students have been exploring Forces in Science, finishing the unit by designing and building their own balloon-powered cars. Last week, students put their creations to the test, racing them against classmates to see whose car could travel the furthest. The winners from each class were:
· NB: John Rus
· KD: Romeo Reid and Clark Cook
· CB: Vinadi Wickramasinghe
The overall champions were Romeo and Clark, whose car impressed everyone with how far it travelled in every run — an amazing effort, well done!
GRADE 2 Math Activity
On Monday the Year 2 students engaged in an activity based on fractions. They made fairy bread cutting it initially in half, then quarters and then eighths.
