Dear Families,
And That Is a Wrap for Term 3!
As we bring another vibrant term to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the fantastic learning, growth, and community spirit that have made the last ten weeks so special.
Learning Highlights This Term
Our classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity and hard work. Some of the standout moments from our learning programs include:
- Prep 100 Days of School: A major milestone for our youngest learners! We loved celebrating 100 days of learning, growth, and fun in Prep, marking how far our newest students have come since starting their primary school journey.
- Book Week: We celebrated the magic of reading with engaging literacy activities and creative experiences that sparked a genuine love for books across all year levels.
- Science Explorations: Students dove into the world of science through exciting incursions and hands-on units of work, asking big questions and discovering how the world works.
- Targeted Writing Structures: We have built upon strong, school-wide writing structures designed to lift student skills, confidence, and voice in every piece of work they create.
Behind these achievements is a dedicated staff team. Our teachers have worked diligently, constantly trialing creative ways to engage every child. They have also thrown themselves enthusiastically into professional development—focusing deeply on Maths and Writing—and bringing those fresh strategies directly back into the classroom to continuously improve student outcomes.
Connecting as a Community
Beyond the classroom, this term has been filled with memorable community events that brought us all together:
- Father’s Day Pie Night: A wonderful occasion to celebrate the father figures in our lives with good food and great company.
- Holy Cross Feast Day: Organized so wonderfully by Casey Ferris and Josie McLeish, and supported brilliantly by our staff and families who joined us for a memorable community picnic.
- Catholic Sacrament Preparation Evenings: Meaningful gatherings that allowed us to support our students and families on their faith journeys.
Our Incredible Parents and Friends Association
A massive thank you to our amazing P&F Association for their relentless energy in hosting fantastic events for our school. Last night’s disco was another wonderful example of parents coming together to support a fun night for our children.
The P&F team continues to invite others into their team, and the outcomes they create for our community are truly immeasurable. I hope every member of the team enjoys a well-deserved break!
Looking Ahead
I would like to personally thank each and every member of our school community for your ongoing support. There is a wonderful feeling growing of us coming together. While some of our plans for 2027 are still to be decided, they are well on the way. My hope for next term is to strengthen this feeling and establish a clear and purposeful way to work as we move toward 2027 to make Holy Cross thrive.
I wish you all a safe and relaxing break. To all those involved in sports finals over the weekend—good luck! While my own team didn't make it this year (though I'm holding out hope my Saints will be back and running in 2027!), I will be cheering loudly for the Gisborne Bulldogs tomorrow—GOOD LUCK to all teams!
