MORNINGTON COMMUNITY GARDEN OPEN DAY

SATURDAY 18TH OCTOBER

This year's school competition is a flower pot family. Our senior Upcycling group are helping to put terracotta pots together to create three circus performers: a clown called Mr Chuckles, a juggler and a ringmaster. Special thanks to Gary, Surabhi and the Upcycling group and Tristan in Pathways who helped paint the faces. 

AUSSIE BACKYARD BIRD COUNT

 20TH – 26TH OCTOBER 2025

Join this nationwide event at school or at home. You can count birds that live near you, in your backyard, school grounds, local park, beach or by looking outside your window. Work as a team with your classmates or your family.

Here is what you do:

1. Download the free Aussie bird count app on your phone.
2. Register to participate.
3. Spend 20 minutes in your favourite outdoor space. 
4. Use the Bird finder information on the website to identify the birds you see. 
5. Count the birds. Submit your count using the app or web form. 

This is a wonderful way to join in with the largest science program. The data collected helps us to understand about Australia birdlife. You will instantly see live statistics about the number of participants and bird species counted. It is a wonderful way to connect with nature and find out more about bird species in your area.
