Assistant Principal’s Report- Term 4 Week 2

As we wrap up the second week of Term 4, we look ahead to the remaining nine weeks that will take us to the end of another fantastic school year. Our classrooms are buzzing with learning as students work towards their individual goals, and teachers prepare for the start of our formal assessment period next week.
At Naranga, ongoing assessment is an integral part of our teaching and learning program. Teachers continually monitor student progress throughout the year to better understand how each learner is developing and to plan future lessons that meet their needs. This process ensures that students, parents, and teachers have access to accurate and meaningful information about each child’s learning journey.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to contact their classroom teacher via email or during our termly Student Support Group (SSG) meetings.
We’re also proud to highlight an exciting achievement within our school community. KELiS – Koorie Emerging Leaders in Schools – is a Victorian education program launched in 2022 that empowers First Nations students through leadership, cultural connection, and advocacy. The program builds confidence, self-esteem, and a strong sense of identity by providing opportunities to connect with peers, participate in events, and collaborate with Koorie Engagement Support Officers and partner organisations.
We are thrilled to share that KELiS is a finalist in the 2025 Victorian Education Excellence Awards, nominated in the Outstanding Koorie Education category. This recognition celebrates the incredible work of educators and programs that support young people to develop the skills, courage, and curiosity they need to thrive. As a KELiS school, Naranga is proudly part of this nomination, alongside our students Nathaniel, Jasarah, and Neveah, who are active participants in the program.
Winners will receive grants of up to $25,000 to support ongoing professional development, with one overall winner also receiving the Lindsay Thompson Award for Excellence in Education and an additional $20,000 grant. The winners will be announced at the presentation ceremony on Friday, 24 October 2025.
We look forward to celebrating this achievement and continuing to support our students as they grow as confident, capable learners and leaders.
Have a fantastic weekend!
