Qustodio is Live at St Virgil’s College

We are pleased to remind families that Qustodio is now live at St Virgil’s College, providing parents and carers with an additional tool to support safe, healthy and responsible technology use at home.

Through our partnership with Qustodio, families can access the Qustodio Parent App free of charge. Registration is simple. Scan the QR code below and create your account using the same email address that the College has recorded on our system.

Qustodio provides families with greater visibility and practical tools to help guide their child’s digital habits. Parents can better understand how devices are being used, support healthy screen-time routines and establish appropriate boundaries around apps and online activity. Importantly, the technology is designed to complement the conversations and expectations families already have around responsible technology use, helping to create greater consistency between home and school.

As part of the College’s Qustodio plan, families also have access to the Plus One feature. This allows parents to add one personal device to their Qustodio account, extending the benefits beyond the College-managed device. This may include a student’s personal phone, tablet or another compatible device, giving families an opportunity to establish more consistent digital expectations across both school and personal technology.

We strongly encourage all families to take advantage of this free service. Supporting young people to develop safe and balanced digital habits is a shared responsibility, and Qustodio provides families with another valuable layer of support as we work together to help our young men navigate an increasingly complex digital world.

Middle Years Student Engagement Survey

Middle Years students have recently received a Student Engagement Survey from our Head of Middle Years, Annalé Van Heerden. The purpose of this survey is to better understand how our students feel about their learning and their level of engagement within the classroom.

The feedback collected will provide valuable insight into students’ experiences and allow us to look critically at the delivery of lessons, classroom engagement and the ways we can continue to strengthen learning across the Middle Years. We encourage students to complete the survey thoughtfully and honestly, as their voice is an important part of helping us continually improve the learning experience at St Virgil’s College.

Pastoral Care and the Start of the School Day

A reminder to families that Pastoral Care (PC) begins at 8.40am each day. It is important that students are on site before the first bell and ready to move promptly to their PC class.

Pastoral Care is an important part of each student’s day at St Virgil’s College. It provides an opportunity for students to connect with their PC Teacher and peers, receive important information, check in on their wellbeing and prepare themselves for the day ahead. A positive and settled start helps students arrive at their first lesson organised, informed and ready to learn.

We understand that circumstances such as bus schedules and public transport delays can occasionally impact a student’s ability to arrive by 8.40am. If you believe your son may be late to start the school day, please ensure that you contact the Front Office. 

We appreciate the support of families in helping our students establish strong routines and begin each day positively and ready to engage in their learning.

Year 9 Peer Support Leaders — Year 5 Visits

I would like to take the opportunity to commend our Year 9 Peer Support Leaders for the outstanding way they have conducted themselves during our recent Year 5 visits to the Senior Campus.

It has been impressive to watch the way our students have interacted with Year 5 students from a range of different primary schools. From ensuring students felt welcome to helping them settle into activities through to the small gestures such as helping someone open their Zooper Dooper, our Peer Support Leaders demonstrated genuine care, maturity and leadership.

These moments may seem small, but this is what it is all about. Leadership is not always about being at the front or having a title. It is about noticing others, making people feel welcome and taking the opportunity to positively influence someone else's experience. Our Year 9 Peer Support Leaders should be incredibly proud of the way they have represented themselves and our College.
