A sincere thank you to our wonderful P&F committee for yet another pool table donation to the common room. Our young men are certainly talking a big game with who is the King of pool, but a great way to converse with one another. So again, a huge thank you.

Year 8 and 9 Parent Evening

Thank you to our Year 8 and Year 9 parents and carers who joined us for our Parent Information Session on Wednesday evening. It was wonderful to see such strong engagement as families considered the next steps in their son's learning journey. 

For our Year 8 families, the session provided guidance around choosing electives for the first time, encouraging students to think carefully about their interests, strengths and future pathways. For our Year 9 families, the focus was on setting students up for success as they prepare for the Senior years, with an emphasis on positive habits, purposeful choices and making the most of the opportunities ahead.

The evening concluded with a Subject Expo, where families had the opportunity to speak directly with Teaching staff, ask questions and learn more about the learning experiences available across the College. We are grateful for the support of our families and for the generosity of our staff in making the evening such a valuable occasion.

Stepping Up: Student Leadership Application Process

With our student leadership process now well underway, I wanted to thank our staff in Mr Geeves, Mr Webster and our Heads of House and the vast number of young men who were willing to put themselves through this process. This process provides  an optimal time for our young men to reflect on what it truly means to step up. 

Leadership is not simply about wearing a badge or holding a title; it is about the daily choice to contribute, to take responsibility and to leave a positive mark on those around us. In every year group, classroom, playground and activity, students have the opportunity to decide whether they will be active contributors or simply passengers.

One approach worth considering is not waiting for someone else to set the standard. Be the person who lifts the tone, includes others, notices what needs to be done and acts without being asked. A passenger waits to be carried; a leader looks for ways to move the group forward. Sometimes that may be through a formal role, but more often it is seen in small, consistent actions — encouraging a mate, representing the College well, giving full effort, showing respect, and choosing to be part of the solution rather than standing back from it.

As the leadership process unfolds, I encourage every student, whether applying for a position or not, to ask: How am I stepping up? Our community is strongest when each young man understands that leadership begins with ownership — of attitude, effort, behaviour and the way we treat others. No one needs to be a passenger. Each student has the ability to contribute meaningfully and help shape the culture of our College for the better.
