Article by Bianca Rae, Prep Level Leader

On Wednesday 5th August, our Prep students celebrated the milestone of 100 days at school. To commemorate this special occasion, each student came dressed as an item from the THRASS chart, demonstrating both creativity and enthusiasm for their learning.

Students proudly showcased their costumes during a Red Carpet Parade and Dance Party on the Prep Deck before making their way into the Prep classrooms to begin their 100th day st school. Throughout the day, they participated in a variety of engaging learning experiences centred around the number 100. A particular highlight was discovering the 100th word on their self-constructed THRASS charts, an achievement that reflected the significant progress they have made throughout the year.

The 100 Days of School celebration provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise the growth, learning and achievements of the Prep students. It was a pleasure to see them embrace this memorable milestone as they continue their exciting journey through their first year of school.

Musicians Shine!

This term offers exciting opportunities to see our student musicians performing with excellence.

On Tuesday (18th August) at 5.00pm, Junior Strings, Stringlings, Suzuki Strings and Orffestra will take to the stage at the Clocktower Centre for the first concert in the Festival of Music season.

Then later in the week, the College musical, Oliver! will be performed at the same venue on Friday 21 August and Saturday 22 August.

These performances provide Junior School students and their families with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student learning and experience the rich range of performing arts opportunities available at the College. Ticket details, along with information about other Festival of Music concerts, can be found on the Performing Arts page in this edition of Whispers

Junior Strings Represent the College

On Friday, 31st July, the Junior School String Ensemble, combined with the String Fusion ensemble, participated in the Victorian Schools Music Festival. The students travelled to the Hawthorn Arts Centre and performed for an audience of family, friends, other participants, and a panel of adjudicators.

Following the performance, the lead adjudicator provided immediate feedback and led the ensemble in a “mini workshop,” demonstrating ways for students to further develop their skills. The adjudicators’ comments affirmed the students’ growth and achievement, while also commending the quality of their performance.

The students are to be congratulated on representing the College with such skill and enthusiasm.
