Prep to Year 4 Intensive Swimming Program at our Sorrento Pool (each day this week)
SWIMMING IS A COMPULSORY PART OF THE PE PROGRAM which is reported on and all students are expected to participate unless they are deemed unfit to swim.
We have always been a very strong swimming school in terms of swimming competencies and this is largely due to the strong commmitment displayed by students (and supported by their parents), individualised swimming plans for students' abilities, extra-curricular Swim Squad opportunities and the maximum effort always demonstrated by our students.
Please make sure your bathers, towels and goggles are ready for each day and are LABELLED. This is always a worthwhile learning experience for the students. Parents are welcome to come and assist poolside and I believe, the warm weather is approaching midweek onwards!
Beach & Boat Days 2025 - Please sign up to help!
Tuesday 9th December - Year 3/4s
Wednesday 10th December - Year 5/6s
Planned Activities include:
- Nippers Boards
- Stand Up Paddle boards
- Surf skis
- Snorkelling
- Powerboat ride to visit the sites of our bay
- Sailing
A new nForma permission form will be sent out TOMORROW asking not only for permission for your child to attend our Six-Adventures-In-A-Day Beach and Boat Days, but also to appeal to all parents, grandparents or older siblings to PLEASE come along and help accompany a group as they rotate through the activities, cook the sausages or organise coffees for the helpers. The set up and pack up is also very time consuming and we need helpers for this also. Each of these days WILL ONLY GO AHEAD IF WE HAVE ENOUGH HELPERS.
Friendly Games Day for all Year 3/4s
On Wednesday 19th November, all Year 3/4s competed against our neighbours and buddies from Sorrento Primary at the Sorrento Netball Courts and David McFarlan Reserve with the aim of having a fun, friendly competition and meeting some new friends. Our students played in the sports of soccer, netball, cricket and volleystars. Thank you to Mrs Stirling, Miss Gregory and Emma for accompanying the students down to the venues and supervising them. A special thank you to parent helpers, Assunta, for volunteering to coach the netball team and to Hope, for buying icypoles for all of the students from both St Joeys and Sorrento Primary.
Thanks also to the Year 6 Students who volunteered to come along and referee or umpire in sports that they are experienced in playing :
Cricket - Hamish
Soccer - Clarke and Jeremy
Netball - Maisy, Harriet, Bella and Edith
Zara and Mabel - Volleystars
Here are some of the fun photos from the day!
Warm Regards,
