School Advisory Council

Chairpersons Report

2025 has been another extraordinary year for St Joseph’s School Sorrento - one filled with energy, community spirit and rich learning. Our highly successful Community Fete with Sorrento Primary in March was a wonderful start to the year and a celebration of partnership between our two schools.

Fellow SAC member Jessie Schmitt and I had the privilege of attending the School Advisory Council Dinner at the Catholic Leadership Centre, where we viewed outstanding artwork from MACS schools, including pieces by our very own talented St Joseph’s students as part of Catholic Education Week.

This Jubilee year, celebrating our call to be “Pilgrims of Hope,” has seen the celebration of sacraments; including Confirmation at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Other highlights have been - continued progress in our building project planning, ongoing policy review, staff professional learning, wellbeing initiatives, faith celebration days and so much more.

I would like to thank Monica O’Shannassy, Megan Barber, Fr Angelo, Jessie Schmitt, Jessie Hower and Nicole McCormack for the contributions and wisdom that each of them has brought to the St Joseph’s School Advisory Council.

St Joseph’s is a vibrant and thriving community. My hope is that every family remains deeply invested in their child’s education as we continue this shared journey of forming lives to enrich the world.
