From the Boarding Captain

Hi everyone, I hope you are all settling into the routines of boarding and having a fabulous start to the year.

This term has gone by so quickly with many different activities jammed packed into such a short time. So far, the Year Sevens, Year Eights, Years Nines and Year Tens have all been on school camp and let’s just say that there were many tired faces arriving back at boarding.

We have had a bundle of rec opportunities such as boogie boarding, Denmark trips, coffee outings and footy nights with the AFL season starting up again. We have also started a footy tipping competition in the dining hall so remember to get your tips in each week. The junior house has been doing clubs which have gotten everyone out of the house and helped to build connections. Some include morning and Friday night gym sessions where they get to choose a game to play as well as fishing club on Monday afternoons, and the biggest fish catcher wins a prize!

The Year Twelves have also had their Ball with every one of us looking our finest. The night was full of photos, dancing and laughter. I’m sure many of us will have fond memories of that night. To support our Year Twelves the whole of boarding came down to watch the red carpet. It felt like a community to see so many friendly faces, and from what I can tell many seem to enjoy seeing all the beautiful dresses and sharp suits. I want to say a huge thanks to all who came down, it meant a lot to us!

This week we have also received our leaver rugby jumpers. Which is an exciting new step for us Year Twelves.  It indicates that our time in boarding is soon coming to an end and celebrating the time we have left.

Halfway through the term we had a much-needed boarders' long weekend where each boarder got to go home and spend some quality time with family and communities while having a relaxing break from school.

Exciting news, Breaksea house has gathered a new item, an air hockey table!!!!!!! It has been used constantly within the house with some very competitive games. Although it is located in Breaksea it is open for anyone to use, so definitely come over and have a game with a friend.

Next weekend we have the annual MasterChef challenge. It will be on Sunday 6 April at 4.00pm so it would be lovely if as many people as possible could be here for an exciting competition. You will be put into teams and given a mystery box of which you need to create a meal out of. Your meal will get judged, and the best meal wins a prize!  It is a very fun evening where the whole of boarding becomes chefs for a few hours and work together to hopefully create a delicious dish.
