Getting Out and About

Fishing club at ‘The Point’ happens every Monday afternoon (weather permitting!) and it’s becoming a popular activity for boarding students young and old. The Point consists of a shelly beach, just a short walk from Boarding, through the wild space, on the northeastern banks of Oyster Harbour. A unique spot, where fresh water meets salt water, and the bream are abundant. The lookout over the harbour and view up the Kalgan River is spectacular. The bird life is prolific and there’s a ‘storm boy’ quality that I find uniquely south coast. Even if the fish aren't biting, it’s a wonderful environment for the students to explore and take in. The gauntlet has been set, Bailey Ettridge holds the ‘big catch’ record, it will be interesting to see who challenges Bailey in the coming weeks! A special thank you to the senior boys, who are mentoring the fishers, especially, William Edgerton Warburton and Finn Mackenzie.

A Message to Students

I think it’s fair to say that some of the realities of boarding are setting in for most students and now begins the next challenge; how to define oneself in this environment, to continue to be true to oneself and the person you want to be. I encourage all students to remember that peers will help shape you, but ultimately, you must trust yourself and your instincts, when it comes to making the right decisions for you. It is very important that students remember that they will make mistakes along the way. Learn from them, listen to your trusted adults, don't let them define you. Whether you are aware of it or not, right now, you find yourself in amongst an incredible group of young people, look after them, look after you and everything will be ok.

Birthdays

Many happy returns to Lincoln Schulz, Jobe Rumble and Isla Patterson, our March birthdays.
