Student Representatives

Cross Country

Chloe W was one of eight students who formed part of the Sydney Catholic Schools ‘P’ Team in the 12/13 years Girls Category at the MacKillop Cross Country Trials. It was recently brought to our attention that the combined total results of all 8 of these team members put them in an overall Team Placing of 1st for their Age Division. Chloe W will be awarded her medal at an upcoming assembly when it arrives at school. Congratulations Chloe.

Conference Athletics

Over the next couple of weeks Mrs Col will hand out notes to any student who has progressed to the Conference 3 Athletics trial held at Sydney Olympic Park on Monday 12th August (term 3). This note will have highlighted all the events your child has progressed for. There is no need to return any of this paperwork as permission will be sought via COMPASS for this event.

Sutherland Sharks Basketball Gala Day

Miss Sutherland went along to the Basketball Gala Day with our Year 3 and 4 girls on Monday 17th June. We only had 2 teams enter this gala day and for some it was their first experience at a Basketball Gala Day. It will be Stage 3’s turn for their Gala Day next term on:

Stage 3 Boys: Monday 5th August (week 3)

Stage 3 Girls: Monday 12th August (week 4)

We require all jerseys borrowed for these gala days to be washed and returned to the school office at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations to the girls on their effort and wonderful sportsmanship!

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

Stage 3 Girls Level 1 Football Finals

Our Stage 3 level 1 girls qualified for the Interconference Championships Day based on their results from the Network Interschool Football Gala Days recently. We wish our level 1 team the best of luck on the 1st of July.

Year  4 Football Gala Day

Year 4 was our last cohort to participate in the Inter School Football Gala Day. Check out the photos below from a wonderful day in great weather hosted by Sydney Catholic Schools and Sydney FC.

Shark League Tag Interschool Sport

Year 5 have already commenced the next round of Interschool Sport playing League Tag.  The following years have their League Tag Gala Days on the below dates:

Year 6: Wed 26th June

Year 3: Wed 3rd July

Year 4: Wed 28th August

Please ensure you provide consent for your child to attend this mandatory gala day. This gala day structure and format is the same as the football gala day. All details can be found on COMPASS however please ensure when it is your child's year grade allocated gala day date to bring/wear:

  • School sports uniform
  • League Tag (oztag) shorts/tights are recommended (but not compulsory). Students without official oz tag/league tag shorts will be provided with a belt on the day. Shorts with pockets cannot be worn (unless pockets are taped using gaffer tape). Soccer shorts without pockets are also an option for those without official oztag or league tag shorts.
  • Footwear - football boots (moulded rubber cleats only) are recommended but not compulsory. Alternatively runners are allowed.
  • Jacket to keep students warm between games
  • School hat (won't need to be worn during games). Headwear during game tag as per League Tag Rules, no peaked caps are allowed but wide brim soft peak or official league tag soft peak visors are permitted.
  • Healthy snacks and lunch with plenty of water. There are no canteen facilities at this venue.
  • Sunscreen

Stage 3 Level 1 League Tag Trial

Thank you to all students who trialed for a place in the Level 1 League Tag Team. We had 40 girls and 30 boys with only 11 spots on offer for each team. All students trialed exceptionally with great sportsmanship. There is a high pool of talent here at St Patrick's and it is never an easy job to select the one team. We understand it can be disappointing not to be selected however it is also great resilience building. The positive aspect with Interschool Sport is that all students are still attending and participating amongst their grade regardless.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL

Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current year 4, year 5 and year 6 students. Miss Devlin has completed an online course to implement during Physical Education here at school. Our new equipment arrived and we were lucky enough to have a coach come out to facilitate a lesson for our 6M class. She learnt a lot and will begin teaching the content to our year 4-6 students in the coming weeks. Next term, our school will be entering the NSW State Tournament. The proposed date for this tournament is Friday the 9th of August with a venue to be confirmed. Details regarding this tournament are still yet to be released.

The winning team from this day will receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.

We look forward to sharing and promoting this new sport right here at St Pat’s.
