Teaching & Learning

NAPLAN

We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 and 9 students who demonstrated our value of Resilience throughout the NAPLAN testing period. Despite some challenges along the way, our students showed perseverance and commitment, with an outstanding 95% completion rate. Most importantly, students approached each session with a positive mindset and gave their best effort. We look forward to sharing results with our community later in the year.

Events and Excursions

It has been another exciting period of learning beyond the classroom.

Our Year 12 VM students ran collaborative team building workshops for our Year 7 students to celebrate International Women’s Day, building connections across year levels while exploring the themes of respect and care for all.

Our VCE Art Making and Exhibiting and Media students attended Top Arts at the NGV and ACMI, gaining inspiration from high-quality student work and deepening their understanding of creative pathways.

Students have also engaged with the podcasting and Fellow Program through Whittlesea Tech School, developing skills in digital technologies, communication and innovation.

Open Night

Our recent College Open Night was a fantastic success, welcoming approximately 200 visitors despite the wet weather. The evening was a wonderful showcase of our school, with the warmth, pride and energy of our community ensuring families experienced the very best of what we offer. Our staff and students, created engaging displays and activities that highlighted the strength of our teaching, learning and wellbeing programs, including live music performances, interactive Science and Maths activities, creative Arts displays, and opportunities to explore Languages, Humanities and English. The Beauty VET station and VM Coffee Cart were particular highlights, with students confidently demonstrating industry skills in real-world contexts, while Games Club and Makerspace showcased creativity and innovation in action.

Our student leaders, including School and House Captains, SRC and volunteers, were outstanding ambassadors for the college, leading tours, presentations and activities. Visitors spoke highly of our student leaders, who confidently led tours and showcased our school with pride.  We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the college and brought our learning spaces to life. Behind the scenes, staff and Education Support worked together to ensure the event ran smoothly, coordinating administration, logistics and resources. The woodfire pizza, along with barista-style coffee and hot chocolate prepared by students, added to the welcoming atmosphere on a cold evening. Open Night was truly a whole-school effort, and we thank our staff and students for their teamwork and commitment in making the event such a positive and memorable experience for our community.
