The Patch Program
Term 3, Week 8
In the kitchen this term the grades 4 to 6 have been making soup and soda bread. The weather was quite chilly, so sitting down with a cup of carrot, pumpkin and lentil soup and some bread made us feel lovely and warm.
The lower grades have been making warrigal greens and cheese scones. This teaches them new techniques in the kitchen AND we’re making something yummy! The warrigal greens are an indigenous spinach that we grow in the patch.
We have been super busy in the garden, making new garden beds and watching all our winter produce grow. We’ve also started planting seeds for our summer vegetables. Grades 5 & 6 have made tiny gardens to go with their tiny houses, and lots of them are starting to sprout. Very cute!
Happy gardening and cooking,
Trinity
