Pathways

Our Year 10 students recently took an important step towards their senior studies through My HSC Journey Begins, an innovative College program designed to support them as they prepare to choose their HSC subjects. Throughout the one day event, students explored their strengths, interests and future aspirations before hearing first-hand from current Year 11 students, who shared valuable insights into subject selection, senior study and career pathways. Students then personalised their experience by attending presentations led by KLA Leaders and teaching staff, showcasing the wide range of HSC, VET and EVET courses available and the opportunities they can create. Under the theme “My Subjects, My Choices, My Future”, students left feeling informed, inspired and ready to begin making important decisions about their HSC journey. A huge thank you to our Year 11 panellists who gave so generously to help their Year 10 peers.

A group of our Year 10 students also visited the Western Sydney University Kingswood campus as part of the WSU Fast Forward Program, gaining valuable insight into university life and future study pathways. Through lectures, tutorials and hands-on engineering and design challenges, students explored how their interests, strengths and subject choices can connect to a wide range of career opportunities. The experience encouraged students to think about their futures with confidence while learning about university pathways, scholarships and early entry opportunities available through WSU.

Our Lunch & Learn guest speaker series has provided students with valuable opportunities to explore a diverse range of future pathways, from law and cyber security to university study and industry-focused degrees. CCC Alumnae Jessica Bristow (Class of 2012) shared her journey into the legal profession, offering honest and practical insights into studying law, building a career and overcoming challenges along the way. Students also heard from Akshaye Kalkura, one of our parents, and his colleague Farleen. As head of cyber security company Razilio, Akshaye highlighted the exciting opportunities available in one of Australia's fastest-growing industries and the important role cyber security professionals play in protecting organisations and communities. Representatives from UNSW and ICMS further expanded students' understanding of post-school opportunities, showcasing university pathways, scholarships, industry experience programs and student life. Through engaging presentations and interactive Q&A sessions, students gained valuable knowledge, broadened their horizons and were inspired to take confident steps towards achieving their future goals.

A dedicated group of our Year 12 students recently celebrated a significant achievement, graduating from the ACU Uni Step Up Program after successfully completing two first-year university units while still at school. At a special ceremony held at the Strathfield campus, Tayah (Exercise and Sports Science), Jenny and Sienna (Nursing and Midwifery), as well as Angelina and Sargun (Criminology) were recognised for their commitment, perseverance and outstanding academic achievement. Completing university-level study while balancing the demands of school is an impressive milestone and reflects the remarkable investment these students have made in their futures. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and thank ACU for providing this valuable opportunity to help students take confident steps towards their future pathways.

Students across all year groups recently participated in Pathways Wellbeing Lessons, engaging in future-focused learning designed to help them explore their aspirations, strengths and career possibilities. Year 7 students completed their first Careers Clusters Quiz, Years 8–11 investigated how careers can be used as a force for good to create positive change in communities, and Year 12 students refined their post-school plans as they prepare for life beyond school.
