Hello from Digital Technologies

It has been a busy and exciting semester in Digital Technologies, with students across all year levels developing their skills in coding, digital design, and safe technology use.

Our Year 6 students have been exploring 3D design, creating innovative moving objects that can be 3D printed in place. This has challenged them to think critically about design, structure, and functionality while using industry-relevant tools.

In Year 5, students have been focusing on online safety, learning how to be responsible and respectful digital citizens. They have also continued to build their coding skills, developing confidence in creating and modifying programs.

Year 4 students have combined creativity and technology by designing “choose your own adventure” stories. Embedding active links, they have created interactive narratives that allow readers to make choices and explore multiple story paths. They have also been using coding to create unique animations, further strengthening their problem-solving skills.

Our Year 3 classes have been further developing their coding abilities while also learning about the internal and external components that make up a computer. This foundational knowledge helps them better understand how technology works.

In Year 2, students have been learning how to stay safe online and building their confidence in navigating digital environments. They have been practicing typing, exploring how keyboards work, and learning about sequential coding with events by creating simple games and animations.

Year 1 students have been developing their basic computer skills, including typing, and creating digital documents that combine text and images. These activities help build early confidence in using technology for communication and creativity.

Our Prep students have had their first introduction to computers. They have been learning how to log in and navigate devices using trackpads, touch screens, and keyboards, building essential foundational skills.

It has been wonderful to see students across all year levels engaging with technology in creative, thoughtful, and responsible ways. We look forward to continuing to build on these skills throughout the semester.
