Apply now to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for 2027

All Victorian government primary schools follow a statewide timeline for enrolling in Foundation (Prep) for the 2027 school year.

If you have a child starting primary school in 2027, it’s time to enrol. Make sure to submit your enrolment application by Friday 31 July 2026.

If you are enrolling the sibling of a student at our school for Foundation in 2027, and both children will be attending our school at the same time, your child is prioritised for a place at our school.

It is important to submit your enrolment application to us on time as it will ensure your child is included in all transition activities if offered enrolment at our school. This also allows us to plan our classrooms, staffing and transition activities, and ensures your child has the best start to school.

For more information, please read about how to enrol your child in Foundation at vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep

If you would like to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027, please contact our school office on 9789 7346 to book a school tour or request an application form.

Smoking Ceremony & Welcome to Country

It was lovely to welcome Uncle Mark and Uncle Shane, elders from Bunurong Land Council to LPS on Tuesday morning.  To have the whole school out on the basketball court and hear a traditional welcome from a Koorie elder was very special.  Students were given the opportunity if they wanted to wander through the smoke to promote a connection to country.  After the formal welcome, the whole school moved to the oval to create a HUGE Aboriginal flag.  Our staff, 650 kids and visitors came together to form the red, black and yellow of the flag.  We thank Grant Kennedy for capturing this for us with his drone.

Headlice

It seems that head lice are around in force at the moment and I would like to ask for your assistance to try and break the cycle and free Langwarrin Primary from their grasp. Could you please check your child’s hair for live eggs or lice?

Should you find any, there are two choices of treatment:

Chemical: Treat and comb with a head lice comb to remove the head lice and eggs; and repeat in 7 days, and then again in 7 days.

Non-Chemical: Use conditioner and comb with a head lice comb to remove the head lice and eggs and repeat every 2 days until no live lice have been found for 10 days.

I do remember those days of checking my own kid’s hair.  It was a weekly Sunday night routine in our house…and yes the kids hated it.  But what I learnt was that the sooner I got on top of it, the easier it was to address and eliminate.

Mother’s Day Stall

This year we will be selling tokens for the children to purchase items from our Mother's Day Stall. You can still send your child in with cash on the day of the stall.

The tokens will replace cash. If you wish your child to spend $20 at the Mother's Day Stall you will need to purchase 20 tokens. There will be no refunds on the tokens.

QKR will close on Tuesday 5th May 2026 at 4pm. The tokens will be handed out to your child the morning of the stall.

Parent Survey – School Attendance

Langwarrin is focusing on strengthening student attendance in 2026 and values the important role families play in supporting this.

We invite parents and carers to complete this short survey to share their perspectives on attendance. Your feedback will help us understand what is working well, identify any challenges, and guide future planning to better support our students and families.

Please complete the survey for each of your children.

New medication forms and medication packaging

The Department’s medication policy has recently changed. If your child takes a controlled drug (such as Ritalin) during the school day, we now need written evidence that it has been authorised by a health practitioner. This means we must sight the original medication packaging with the pharmacy label attached. We will photocopy the packaging and add this to your child’s records. Please bring the original medication box into school for photocopying (see image below). Alternatively, you can send in an EMPTY original box with the pharmacy label attached—we will copy it and return it home with your child. If you do not have the original box, please contact me as soon as possible. An updated Medication Authority Form will also be sent home over the weekend. Please sign and return it on Monday morning.

If you have any questions, please see Kelly in first aid.

No more hats!

The last day for hats for the early part of the year was yesterday.  From 1st May, hats are not compulsory, however students may choose to still wear them.  Hats will be needed again when we get to September.

Have a wonderful fortnight,

Mrs Pepper
