In Term 2, Year 9 students will explore a range of poetic forms, including songs, free verse, lyrical poetry, and fixed-form poetry. They will analyse how language features—such as symbolism, figurative language, and imagery. Developing their understanding of how these techniques are used to shape meaning and evoke responses in readers. Students will also examine how poetic devices and structural choices work together to deepen understanding and create personal connections.Towards the end of the term, they will apply this knowledge by experimenting with their own poetry, incorporating a variety of language features and devices. Students will then present their work to the class, reflecting on their creative choices and receiving feedback from their peers.
