Sports Bulletin

CISSA Sport

Three of our CISSA teams competed in their  respective finals on Wednesday afternoon.  All teams represented the College with enthusiasm and pride, and I am very happy to report that two of our three teams won their finals.

A huge congratulations to our Senior Girls Touch Football Team, who defeated St Monica’s College in a thrilling and closely contested match. The game went to a drop-off, with our girls securing a 4–3 victory to claim the Premiership Division title.

Equally impressive was our Senior Boys Touch Football Team, who delivered a strong performance to defeat Redlynch State College in another tight contest, taking out the Division 1 Grand Final.

Our Senior Boys Volleyball Team overcame a slow start to push Cairns State High School in the second set; however, Cairns SHS proved too strong on the day.

We also congratulate Ella Pearce who was named Player of the Premier Division Girls Touch Football Grand Final, and Will Pemberton, who was named Player of the Division 1 Boys Touch Football Grand Final.

Congratulations to all players and coaches on an outstanding season.

I would also like to thank and congratulate all of our Year 12 CISSA players for the contribution they have made to the St Mary’s Catholic College JSS and CISSA Sports teams throughout their time at the College.

St Mary's is once again participating in the Cairns Running Festival on Sunday, 12 July. Students, staff and community members of all running abilities are invited to join our College Team and celebrate active living and community spirit as we walk, jog and run along our beautiful Cairns Esplanade.

Off the back of winning the largest participating school in 2025, we are hoping to show up in even bigger and better numbers this year and paint the town maroon and green! St Mary's is currently sitting in the number one position on the Team Registrations Leaderboard!

There are still spaces available in the 2km Family Dash, while all other race categories have sold out. If you would like to participate in the 2km Family Dash, registrations can be completed via the Cairns Marathon website - https://cairnsmarathon.com.au/
