YEAR 7
Starting Well

Head of Year 7
Wednesday 19 August - Friday 21 August (Week 6)
For the Year 7 Camp, students will once again venture to the Echo Creek Adventure Centre near Tully. This camp has proven to be a highlight of the Year 7 calendar, and we are excited about the shared experiences and opportunities it will provide for all Year 7 students.
Further information and permission slips will be distributed via inForm early next term. In the meantime, please reach out to your child's Pastoral Mentor or to me directly if you have any concerns around your child's attendance at camp.
Thursday 29 October (Term 4, Week 4)
Please ensure all Queensland Health immunisation consent forms are returned by Monday 15 June. Forms must be returned regardless of whether consent is being given or withheld.
Queensland Health will only administer the vaccines to students for whom parental consent has been provided.
At this week's assembly, we celebrated the success of our Cross Country Age Champions, as well as the very first Year 7 Principal’s Certificate awardee.
Through our merit system, students are awarded a Principal’s Certificate after receiving four Head of Year Awards. As I continue to recognise students who receive Head of Year Awards in our Community PG, I am confident that we will see many more Principal's Certificate recipients in the near future.

If you ride an e-bike, e-scooter, e-skateboard or e-unicycle, important new Queensland laws come into effect from 1 July 2026.
Key changes include:
✅ New speed limits on footpaths and when passing pedestrians
✅ Increased penalties for unsafe riding
✅ Police powers to seize illegal devices used in public places
✅ Stricter requirements for legal e-bikes and personal mobility devices
✅ Continued focus on helmet use, mobile phone restrictions, and drink-riding laws
These changes are designed to improve safety for riders, pedestrians and all road users. Parents and students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new rules before the school holidays.
📖 For full details and to check whether your device complies with the new laws, visit: https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/e-bikes-e-scooters/

State of Origin Shirt Day is being held to celebrate State of Origin and raise money for the Cancer Council. Staff and students are invited to take part, and everyone is encouraged to get involved.
Those participating are required to bring a gold coin donation, which will be collected by Pastoral Mentors during Pastoral Group (in plastic envelopes in roll folders).
So grab a coin and:
Students who do not meet these expectations will be required to change into their correct school uniform for the day: this may mean students are sent home to change.
