Important Update – E‑Bikes and E‑Scooters on College Grounds

As you are aware, the laws in Queensland regarding young people on electric bikes and scooters are about to change.

I am writing to inform you of an important update regarding the use of e‑bikes and e‑scooters at the College.

From the beginning of Semester 2, e‑bikes and e‑scooters will no longer be permitted on College property unless students complete the required registration paperwork with the College. To complete the paperwork, students must be 16 years of age and with a current Learner's Permit or Driver Licence.

This decision has been made after careful consideration of recent legislation and the challenges associated with safety of these devices.  Students will be required to complete the College paperwork to bring an e‑bike or e‑scooter onsite.

To support families in understanding the legal requirements and safe use of these devices, further information and access to the necessary documentation can be found at the Queensland Government StreetSmarts website:  https://streetsmarts.initiatives.qld.gov.au/e-bikes-e-scooters/

We strongly encourage all parents and caregivers to review this information with their child to ensure safe and lawful use of e‑bikes and e‑scooters.

The College remains committed to providing a safe environment for all students. We appreciate your support and cooperation in implementing this change.

In faith, hope and love,
