Term 3 Wrap up

What a wonderful introduction to STEM learning at St Bernard's in Term 3. The students have been fully engaged week after week, exploring new Science concepts and building prototypes based on the Design engineering process. 

Here are some of the students thoughts about the STEM program:

Prep:

I have liked learning about push and pull and making the cars to push along. - Thea

I liked designing and building the the cars with the Lego.- Ottie

I liked when we used the tools to cut the cardboard and screw it together. - Jude

I like building the cars and I like using the cutting tools to make cardboard buildings.  I like everything -that we do. - Patrick S

Year 1/2 

I like STEM because we create things that help us learn and make us smart. - Ollie

I like when we make mini playground equipment because we can be like an engineer and builder. - Max

I have liked creating and building the swing and play equipment in STEM. I liked when the swing moved and the lego figure did not fall off. - Axl

I like when Miss Lisa explains things very well like when we needed to build a slide she was helping us so we could make it work. - Eloise.

Year 3/4 

I have loved everything in STEM, especially the marble run and Newton’s Laws and gravity. - CJ

What I liked about STEM class is that we got to use the Design Process and we got to innovate and learn about new things. I liked doing the experiments and recording results. I also loved building the marble run. - Akira

What I have liked most about STEM is how we learn so much stuff and we get to use our creativity. The thing I loved the most is making the marble run. - Maeve

Year 5/6 

In STEM this term I have enjoyed the creativity in making the lift and the carnival rides because it is fun to put things together, and then watch what happens when you pull a string and see the reaction. It will spin, lift, push or pull. I like to re-evaluate and find a solution to the problem. - Rafe

You know I didn’t like physics, but  STEM class taught me how interesting it could be and to be open to new things. This is now my favourite class and a highlight of my week. -Summer

What I love about STEM is that it’s just not about physics, it’s about adventure and experimenting and testing. I love how we make things I thought I could never make.  Thank you Miss Lisa - Bronwyn
