As we come to the end of another busy term at St Bernard’s, it is wonderful to reflect on just how much has been packed into term 3.

Our classrooms have certainly been buzzing with learning. Across the school, students have explored our Inquiry unit, Energy in Action, investigating everything from sound and vibrations to heat energy and electrical circuits. National Science Week gave us an opportunity to explore curiosity, experimentation and discovery with plenty of hands-on learning taking place across all levels. 

Literacy has also been a strong focus this term. Our students have continued to grow as readers and writers, enjoying rich literature and developing their skills through our evolving whole-school approach to literacy. We have also seen fantastic participation in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, with students reading and recording an impressive 1275 books across the school! 

Of course, one of the highlights of the term was Book Week - A Symphony of Stories. From our colourful Book Week Parade to our Bake a Book and Arty Smarty competitions, the school was filled with creativity and a genuine love of books. We were also incredibly fortunate to welcome author Kirsty Murray, who shared her knowledge, stories and experience with our students and gave them a wonderful insight into the world of writing and publishing. 

Beyond the classroom, our students have embraced so many opportunities to participate, challenge themselves and represent St Bernard’s. From excursions and incursions to district athletics, Maths Olympiad and Maths Explorers, lunchtime activities and student leadership opportunities, there has been plenty happening throughout the term.

What stands out most, however, is the enthusiasm with which our students embrace these opportunities. Whether performing, competing, experimenting, reading, creating, problem-solving or simply having a go at something new, our students continue to demonstrate the curiosity, persistence, risk-taking, self-direction and collaboration that we value so highly at St Bernard’s.
