Koonung students visit parliament house for Rotary Model UN

On 4-5 May  four Year 11 Koonung students (Claire Morgan, Hayley Mason, Charlotte Terrill and Ruken Zeyto) attended the Rotary Model UN at parliament house. An amazing two days of political debate were enjoyed by the students. Ruken had this to say about the weekend:

We arrived at Parliament house early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday with the other students from around the state! We had a short breakfast and met the other student delegates and lots of people from rotary. Everyone was really nervous, especially the first morning, but considering we all had to argue with each other about current global issues, everyone got along really well and we became a big family full of like-minded people that shared a lot of laughs and memes. At the end of the weekend, the other girls and I all learnt a lot about being open minded, self-assertive, and the global issues of the world and how they affect so many types of people.

Thank you to MASH Rotary for supporting and funding the girls' opportunity. Special thanks to Joe and Gill Somers, and Mr Conor Sheehan for their coaching and instruction.
