Term 2, 2022
Term 2 has been another successful term for sport at Dromana College. The level of participation alone has been incredible and shows how eager the students are to represent their school after two disrupted years.
As Sports Coordinator I am very proud of these students and am grateful to see them continue to embody Dromana’s values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity and Personal Best.
Not only has Dromana had such an impressive participation rate, but the level of success achieved has been inspiring.
In 2021, for the first time in the history of Dromana College, we won the Division Athletics, Swimming AND Cross Country. This feat has been deemed the “Triple Crown”. This year, Dromana has been able to back up the Triple Crown and has become the back-to-back champions in the Division Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. What an amazing achievement to continually be the top performing sport school in the Southern Peninsula District.
In addition to our carnival achievements, Dromana has been successful in Team Sport competitions. Below are the Term 2 champions from the Southern Peninsula District (SPD) and the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR).

Our mixed team competed strongly and finished runner-up. This was an excellent result considering the strong competition on the day. All of the students involved were exceptional representatives of Dromana College and are very deserving of their achievements.
The Mixed team included:
Lucas Hickson (yr 10), Max Wilkinson (yr 10), Tristen Hyde (yr 11), Sara Hickson (yr 9), Zeph Creasey (yr 9), Sophie Wilkinson (yr 8)
and Ava Holland (yr 9).
Huge Congratulations to the Senior Boys Baseball team who won the State Championships. The boys dominated the qualifying rounds with some spectacular hitting by all the boys - with Charlie P , Xander G and 'Grand Slam' Jamie B providing the highlights, backed up by the ever steady Nick B and Mitchell J. Damian B pitched beautifully and kept a clean slate during qualifying, and the boys fielding was reminiscent of a well oiled machine. In the State final the boys got our to an early 3 run lead thanks to Xander G, but after 3 innings the game had tightened to 3-3. Enter Charlie P and Mitchell J, with Charlie hitting a home run out of the park (literally) and Mitchell closing the innings out - striking out the last batter with some sensational pitching. Shout out to Neil Johnson who coached the boys as far as the State finals. Well done Jamie Bailey, Nick Bertucci, Damien Bodey, Cash Curwood, Xander Gunn, Ashton Hilbert, Mitchell Johnston, Charlie Pierson, Keaton Saffin and Josh Westwater.
On Thursday the 26th of June, 75 Dromana College students travelled to the Hastings Foreshore to compete in the Southern Peninsula Division Cross-Country. It was amazing to see the level of talent from our college. In almost every race we had at least one student make it to the podium. It was this strong performance by the team that lead to Dromana College being named the champions for the division.
