St James Athletics Carnival

What a day we had yesterday for the 2019 St James Athletics Carnival. A fabulous day was held by all in our community. Thank-you to the staff, students, volunteers and parents who ensured a great day was had by all.

The St James Athletics Team for 2019 to compete in August in the Holt District Carnival will be chosen from the results of yesterday's carnival. Students aged 9-13 years who competed and placed in their events may be eligible to compete in two events plus a relay. More news on that will follow towards the end of this term.

Holt District Soccer Competition

On Friday 3rd May 32 students from year 5 and 6 will be representing St James at the Holt District Soccer Competition. Trials were held during Physical Education classes in Term 1 with our fantastic volunteer/coach/parent Andi S.

All students involved must wear their full sport uniform to school. Students must also bring the following;

Long navy socks,

football boots(if you have them or change of shoes in case of wet weather),

Plenty of warm clothes,

Packed lunch and snacks as well as a water bottle.

Students must arrive at school by 8.50am ready for a 9am departure.

This is always an exciting day on the school calendar. Congratulations to those who made the team and good luck. It is going to be a terrific day.

Sporting Schools AFL Sports Program

Sporting Schools is an Australian government initiative that gives schools the opportunity to apply for funding to run sports programs in their school. This term I secured funding for the Foundation to Year 4 students to be involved in an AFL specialist program. During sport classes on Friday students will be taught the skills of AFL from a specialised AFL coach. Hopefully they enjoy the experience and learn some great skills.

Friday Sport

Friday Sport for Year 5 and 6 students will begin on Friday 10th May. Last term students were asked to choose between football and netball to represent St James against other Holt District schools in a friendly informal environment where students can get to know other students from other schools. A CareMonkey will be sent with all information to parents this week with all of the details. Please find below the draw which will also be shared via CareMonkey.  Students will be bussed to and from venues when required. Friday sport will begin at approximately 12.30pm and will conclude at approximately 2.30pm.

New staff Sports Uniform

Recently our Well-being, Sports and Classroom Teacher extraordinaire, Mrs Mac organised for our staff to have the opportunity to purchase some new St James sportswear.

From shorts and tracksuit pants to sleeveless vests, coats, jackets and baseball caps, some of our staff now have no excuse to look amazing!

We hope you noticed these snazzy uniforms at yesterday’s Athletics Carnival and agree that they’re ‘top drawer!’

Thanks for organising, Mrs Mac... a year in the making!

Next plan - staff onesies!
