Young ladies joining VET Engineering classes.

Tuesday was a significant day for Ringwood Training.

Our Engineering Department welcomed our first Female Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade Apprentice

Makaylah has picked up employment with S.P. Mclean Engineering

Makaylah completed the VET Certificate II in Engineering Studies course with Swinburne and has been interested in Engineering and Physics since Year 9.

 

“I was fascinated by the welding process, how the steel can change structure during the process” Makaylah said.

 

She also commenting that the job satisfaction from see a job on paper to something that she has made is very rewarding. 

 

Cat is a second year VET Engineering Student, last year picked up the Outstanding Student Award for her class against her peers.

Cat has always had a passion for Engineering and enjoys working with her hands.

 

“If the boys can do it so can I” Cat said

After completing her studies Cat intends to follow her dreams and apply a Fitter & Turner position with Air Force.

 

This year  the First year VET Engineering Studies group has three Ringwood Secondary females student, Isabella, Ella & Lal Ngaih Awmi.

Isabella is interested in the STEM aspects of the course, enjoys Fabrication and building items. At this stage Isabella does not any career aspirations, but believes that skills learnt through the Engineering Studies course will be valuable in the future.

Ella is also interested in the STEM aspects of the course, enjoys using the tools in Engineering. Ella wants  to be a Chemical Engineer and this course will give her the basic grounding and some skills toward this career goal.

 

This year we are running a group of Engineering Studies students off site with a couple female students as well.
