Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is one of the major decision-making bodies at RSC. It is an amazing opportunity for students from all year levels to voice their opinions, take a stand for the causes they believe in, and represent the student body in decision-making.

Students who participate in the SRC will have the opportunity to attend workshops, develop their leadership skills, and network with teachers, students, and external organisations.

The SRC will launch in the coming weeks to all year levels. Students who are interested will be encouraged to complete an ‘expression of interest’ (via written application or video) to be admitted into the Council.

More information will be released via Compass and Email to students in the near future.

Facilities

The Christmas break has provided the opportunity to complete a vast array of works around the College. Much of the work has focussed around preparing for the upcoming Capital works. Here is a brief summary.

  • Over 1000 new lockers purchased for Years 9-12 students. This was brought about by the loss of our major VCE locker bay facility

-A reconfiguration of locker bays around the school to create genuine sub-school centres

-A new Junior School locker bay constructed

-Existing locker bays refurbished

  • Oval access-Stage 1-Relaying the concrete across the front of the gym is almost complete. Stage 2-Relaying concrete beside the PAC is almost complete. Stage 3-Construction of the ramp to the oval has commenced and is due for completion in 6-7 weeks.
  • Capital Works-The College has just gone to Tender which will take approximately 4 weeks. Expect 1-2 weeks for the selection of a builder and then a further couple of weeks before the builder is on site. It’s going to be a very big year!
  • Middle School Office/Timetable office/Daily Organisation office-These new offices are close to completion, again brought about by the upcoming Capital works
  • Freezer and oven service
  • Oval works-Fertilising, verti drilling, spraying and lots of watering.
  • Junior School, Senior School, RT, 500s and portables painted to maintain high quality finishes.

Introducing our French Assistant

Bonjour J

My name is Livnat and I will be working at Ringwood Secondary as the French language assistant this year.

I moved to Melbourne 6 years ago but I come from Switzerland, a (very) small country in the middle of Europe. Switzerland has 4 official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. I grew up in a city called Geneva, right on the French border (only 20 minutes’ walk to France to be precise!). Therefore, my first language is French but I also had to learn German, Spanish and English at school. (But to be honest, I forgot most of my German skills!). I love languages and had the opportunity to study literature, linguistics and cultural heritage at University.

Last year, I already worked as a Language Assistant in different schools around Melbourne. I absolutely loved the experience and cannot wait to start again this year at Ringwood Secondary J

I look forward to sharing my passion with all our French students, helping them to improve their skills and develop their appreciation and curiosity for French culture.

Au revoir!

Livnat
