Cluster celebration day

Cluster Assemblies

This year the CRC Sydenham cluster community celebrated for the final time, the 2019 year 11 and 12 students, along with their Home group teachers, as cluster groups.  The College theme, ‘We are God’s Masterpiece’ highlights the significance each individual brings to one another. We, as a CRC Sydenham community, have had the privilege of creating and sharing new of the final two years of our students’ education through our home group based cluster system.

On Thursday 24 October, each cluster commenced with an assembly, recognising the strengths that each student brings to their home group.   The assemblies focussed not only on the College theme but on the clusters’ values. Students were recognised for their achievements and the strengths they brought to each of their homegroups.  Clusters prayed together, shared stories, played games and farewelled one another.

Celebration of the Eucharist

As the celebration of the Eucharist is central to our Catholic education within the CRC Federation, we welcomed six priests back to the College who celebrated six individual Masses in six different locations for the six clusters at the one time. It truly is a unique and special experience. We are grateful to the following priests who gave of their time to celebrate the Holy Eucharist: Fr Maurie Cooney (Parish priest Sacred Heart, St Albans and Emmaus parishes, Sydenham); Fr Gerard Keith (Parish priest Resurrection parish, Kings Park); Fr Tuan Anh Do (Parish priest Holy Eucharist parish, St Albans Sth), Fr Peter Danh (Holy Eucharist parish); Fr Richard Rosse (Parish priest of St Catherine of Siena, Caroline Springs) and Fr John O’Reilly (founding priest of CRC Federation).

College Assembly

Cluster feast day was concluded as the College gathered in the hall as the Y12 students processed under the cluster banners to an ovation by the staff and Y11 students. We saw the passing of the current Student leadership team to the 2020 student leadership team. Awards were presented and speeches given. The 2019 College captains farewelled the school community on behalf of the year 12 student body 2019. Alicia Azzopardi and Lucas Blackman, College captains 2020 responded in like. Cass Hutchison gave the staff address to the outgoing Year 12 students.
