Welcome to the Library 2023

We are excited to have students back in the Library again ready to borrow books and to learn how to search for books in the library.  St Louis offers an enormous array of picture books, chapter books, graphic books and non fiction books with latest and most popular titles.  Encouraging your child to read is so important.  Reading improves focus, memory, empathy and communication skills.

As quoted by Dr Seuss , 

"The more that you read, the more you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go"

The Library would like help from any parents who can be available from 8.40am to help shelve books. 

If you can spare approximately 20 minutes Tuesday to Friday, please come and see me in the library. – No experience necessary, however volunteers must have a current “Working with Children” card. 

Your help will be greatly appreciated. 

I would also like to remind parents and carers of the rules related to library borrowing.

• Children in years P-3 are required to have a library bag when borrowing from the library. But it is encouraged for all students to protect the books they borrow.
• Students may borrow up to 5 books in total.
• Please keep drink bottles on the outside pocket of the school bags. 
• All books are borrowed out for a period of two weeks.  If your child needs more time, they may re-borrow the book.
• Books are to be returned to the library trolley in your child’s grade, first thing in the morning.
• The Library is open before and after school for borrowing.

If your child has overdue books from last year, can you please call me or email me regarding the replacement. 

Please encourage your children to make use of the wonderful resources provided by the school.

Twice a term, the library organises the “Scholastic Book Club”.  The Catalogues distributed, contain popular titles at very reasonable prices.  The school receives benefits from the sales; however there is no obligation to buy.

The due date for the current catalogue is 20th February.  Delivery will be aprox 1 week from that date.

All orders must be made online by going to scholastic.com.au/LOOP or download the app. Payment is by credit card. 

No cash orders will be taken by the school.
