Myrniong - ELC to Yr 6

A rewarding term one

It is hard to believe these past ten weeks have been the longest continuous period that we have spent time at school since 2019. It has been a rewarding and rather exhausting start to the year.

  • We have contested our House Swimming and Athletics. Congratulations to Berry/Young - the ‘watermelons’.
  • Prep to Year Three classes successfully commenced their IntiaLit literacy programs.
  • School and House Captains started in their leadership roles.
  • Year Four to Six classes were introduced to weekly Writing Revolution lessons.
  • Year Three class presented their excellent Assembly - ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’.
  • We held the wonderful ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ in the beautiful Myrniong grounds.
  • Parents visited the classrooms, attended parent/teacher meetings and information sessions.
  • We competed with success at District Athletics and Tennis events plus Regional Swimming in Horsham.
  • Basketball, cricket and netball teams competed in local competitions.
  • Years Three to Six took part in the CSIRO BEBRAS computational thinking challenge.
  • Paper 1 of the APSMP Maths Games and Maths Olympiad competitions were sat by our extension maths groups. We had two perfect scores from Lachlan Reid and Hartley Johns.
  • We welcomed singing and visiting parents back to our weekly Assemblies.
  • Chamber Singers performed at the College Easter Service.
  • Laidlaw House ran a successful ‘Touch of Blue’ fundraiser for WDHS.
  • Our Year Two students presented their first ‘Strings’ concert.
  • Years Five and Six headed to Anglesea for the first camp of 2022.

I wish all Junior School and Early Learning Centre families a restful and safe vacation. A Happy Easter to all.

Winter Uniform - Term Two

In line with the Senior School, the Junior School will start Term Two on Wednesday 27 April in winter uniform. With a whole school A.N.Z.A.C Service on Thursday 28 April, we won’t be commencing with our usual two weeks of uniform changer-over. P.E days and Fridays will still see the students wearing P.E and House sports uniforms. The Uniform Shop is open at selected times in the school holidays and can be accessed on the staff development day on Tuesday 26 April.

Hamilton A.N.Z.A.C Day march

As part of our sesquicentennial year, Dr. Andrew Hirst has invited all Junior School students to march as part of the Hamilton A.N.Z.A.C Day Service on 25 April. Marchers gather at the front of Gray Street Primary School at 9.45 am for a 10.00 am start. The march makes its way to Melville Oval, where the A.N.Z.A.C Service will be held. All students attending must be in full winter uniform.
