Reporting on Academic Progress and Learning Behaviours

It is a privilege to present Term One Reports to our parent community.

Today, Thursday 7 April, the Reports will be released to parents via our SIMON / PAM portal.

The reports are designed to provide parents and guardians with a snapshot of progress.

You might be wondering - how do I read and interpret the report and what should I be looking for?

As you scan the report look for the following features:

Course description - read this to remind yourself what it is that your child is studying.

Term One Assessment grades – these are published for each task

Teacher written learning advice - includes recommendations for what the student needs to do to improve and make progress.

Term One Learning Behaviours - indicate how your child is managing their communication, collaboration, engagement in learning and general behaviour.

  • Communication involves the use of digital devices and the ways student respectfully engage with other students and teachers in the classroom.
  • Collaboration highlights how students respond to feedback and work with others to learn.
  • Engaged learning focuses attention on organisational skills and how the student works to complete class and home learning.
  • Behaviour is about how your child shows up ready to learn in the classroom, bringing a positive attitude to learning. It also involves students being able to recognise when they might be disruptive to the learning and regulate this behaviour.

We acknowledge that some students are working towards being able to behave in a consistent manner and making the effort in all learning behaviours with minimal input from the teacher. The teaching team at The Hamilton and Alexandra College encourages you to spend some time discussing the report with your child and prepare some key questions you would like to bring to the Student Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 26 April 2022 between 2-6 pm on Microsoft Teams. More information about how to book an interview is attached.

Our current reporting format is under review as we imagine what reports might look like into the future. We would welcome any feedback you have about this process.  Please send any thoughts or suggestions to Wendy Henderson at whenderson@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au.
