Athletics Sessions

Students in 3-6 have been given the opportunity to participate in Athletics sessions run by a professional coach over the last two weeks in the lead up to St. Mary’s Athletic Trials.

At their appropriate levels, they have been looking at the skills for field and running events.

We are looking forward to seeing the students putting this learning into action at the Trials and wish everyone the best of luck in trying out the St Mary’s Team! Go Dolphins!

Students in Years Prep-2 have been learning and practicing fundamental locomotor skills for athletics through games. They have enjoyed participating in fun relays and jumping & throwing activities.

Hoop Time

Thomas (4L) - I enjoyed working as a team during Hooptime. We got to play lots of basketball games against other schools. I was part of the All Stars Team we won 3 games and drew won. It was so much fun that I can’t wait go again next year.

Ava (4L) - At Hooptime we played basketball games against other schools. I was in one of the Rookie teams, which was fun. We won 3 games but also lost 2 games. My team worked together well and the ball was equally shared around during our games. It was very enjoyable and I would love to go again.

Last Friday, our school participated in the Dendy District Hooptime Basketball carnival. It was a lot of fun and a great day for the year fives and sixes of St. Mary’s. We had a lot of great competition and their were great contests throughout the day of basketball. The St Mary’s All Stars Team, played really well, and beat lots of teams, but unfortunately were not a match for some, and sadly lost in the Semi Final. The Future Stars on the other hand had very cracking day with all the teams from Future Stars making the Quarter finals, but two were knocked out, and now it was all down to Mr Reid’s Future Stars team. With the whole of St Mary’s cheering them on in the Grand Final, they pulled an astonishing come from behind win, to triumph over St. Joan of Arc by five points, and were crowned the Future Stars champions, and won some excellent prizes. It was a great and thrilling day, and hopefully more basketball to come in the following years. Thanks to all the teachers who gave up their time to help out all of the basketball teams, we couldn’t have done it without you. GO ST MARY’S!
