Bill Turner Cup

The boys Bill Turner Cup and girls Bill Turner Trophy soccer teams played two games in Orange on Monday June 25.  This is a knockout competition so winning is the aim.

The first games were the semi-finals where the girls were defeated by Mudgee High School 3-0 and the boys winning 2 - 1 against St Johns, Dubbo.  The girls then played off for 3rd and 4th position and being victorious coming 3rd in Western NSW.  Well done girls!!

The boys went on to play Bathurst High School in the final and won 3 - 1 and have earnt the title Western NSW Champions.  They will now travel to Albury on August 7 and 8 to play off against winners from other regions from NSW and Victoria.  We wish the boys all the best.

Buckley Shield Battle

Cowra High travelled to Tumut on Friday June 29 to play against Tumut High in the State Round 16 of the Buckley Shield Knockout Competition.  Despite the cold and damp conditions and having some key players unavailable due to injury and illness, those in attendance played well and worked hard to overcome the conditions and drop in player numbers.

At halftime the team was 0-4 down  with errors and penalties impacting on Cowra's play.  Cowra then staged a comeback after being down 14-4 for much of the second half.

Cowra scored two tries in the last five minutes to draw at 14 all.  The last try and conversion were actually scored AFTER the final siren had sounded!  There was some confusion over the extra time rules which delayed the game.  Golden point extra-time was eventually played and  Tumut High scored first and ran out the winners of the game 18 - 14.

Congratulations to the boys on getting to this point of the competition.  Cowra High is proud of your achievement.
