Secondary Assistance Scheme

If you have a Secondary student, and hold a Centrelink Health Care Card, you may be eligible to claim from the 2020 Secondary Assistance Scheme.

Forms are available at the Administration in Busselton.  You just need to let the College sight your Health Care Card, complete the form, and then we will submit the document on your behalf.

This scheme closes on Thursday 9 April, so act today to avoid disappointment.

The Expo - Invitation for Secondary families

Cornerstone Christian College is hosting the "Emerging Leaders of Tomorrow Forum" between 11 and 13 March (that's this week).  It is a combined initiative of the College, the Dunsborough Yallingup Chamber of Commerce and the Busselton Chamber of Commerce.  It will run concurrently with the Cadets' "Tribal Camp".  The focus of the event is to engage students in the development of our region, particularly the necessity of developing the airport which will have a significant flow-on effect for all aspects of the region's economy.  Various speakers representing some of the southwest's major industries and organisations will present.  Our mayor, Grant Henley will be presenting as well as the Federal minister for our region, Nola Marino.

Students will be working in groups, researching specific aspects of the southwest's economy and their link with the airport development.  The groups will comprise a mix of students from Year 7 through to Year 10.  Students will have a unique opportunity to participate in a truly authentic learning experience getting to engage with real issues and the movers and shakers of our region.  They will then work together to create an expo-type display which will be available for viewing after lunch on Friday, 13 March.  Parents of participating students are encouraged to attend the expo display from 2pm to see the exciting results of our students' work.

The Winter Uniform Approaches!

Yes, we may still feel that we are in the heat of summer, but it's not long now until the winter uniform needs to be aired for wearing.  From the start of Term 2, we switch over to our formal uniform for the highschool and also students in Years 3 to 6.   Now is the time to check for sizes (dress lengths etc) and place an order to ensure deliveries arrive in plenty of time. Please remember that the red College jumper is also a requirement for the winter uniform.

Parents should make use of the onsite fitting centres at both Colleges prior to placing online orders.

Uniform Exchanges

Uniform Exchange Policy - If you order an incorrectly sized item or the wrong item altogether, parents will need to complete the Exchange Form available on the College website (http://www.cornerstone.education/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Product-Exchange-Form.pdf) and return directly to Perm-A-Pleat (purchasers expense). Please check our website for more information on uniform exchange policy.

One way to avoid incorrect sizes it to make use of our Fitment Centres, which are available at both campuses.

Consent2Go Update

We can't stress enough about the importance of utilising your Consent2Go account - and we want to draw you attention to the notifications you receive regarding upcoming excursions. If you receive a Consent2Go notification and your child is unable to attend an excursion, please decline by clicking on the NOT ATTENDING button and provide a suitable reason.

This will avoid us sending you repeated reminders.

Student Absences

If your child is unable to attend school, parents are advised to contact our friendly Administration prior to 8:45am by phone or by email to attendance@cornerstone.education,  and provide a reason for your child's absence.

For planned absences (even if it's just 24 hours away), a Leave of Absence Form must be submitted.  It's not just a matter of sending an email.  You would use this form for a family holiday, surgery, sporting or extra-curricular activities, full-day medical appointments (Perth) etc.   You can find the form at http://www.cornerstone.education/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Leave-of-Absence-Application-Form.pdf

If you are unsure, please check with the College Administration.

School Photo Day

A small adjustment has been made to when school photo days are scheduled.

Busselton Campus photos now will happen on Wednesday 5th August.

Dunsborough is now on Thursday 6th August.

Parents are asked to avoid booking appointments or holidays on these days.

Technology Award Opportunity

Would you like your child to bring home $5000? The Australian Information Industry Association runs an annual competition where students can showcase their innovations and be in the running to win some great prizes.

This year’s theme is "Technology that makes a difference". If you believe your child has created some innovative technology that makes a difference, encourage them to take the stage and let the world know about it.

DEBTORS

Please remember, if you are paying your fees or accounts via direct debit, that you MUST put your Debtor name against the payment.  Not the student's name, or your own name even, but the DEBTOR account.  Unfortunately this isn't always done and it can lead to delays in your payment being allocated to your statement.  We don't want your payments to be left unaccounted for.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome Mrs DeVilliers

We are delighted to advise that Mrs Vicky DeVilliers has joined our staff team, filling in for Mrs Johnson whilst she is away.

We are grateful she's with us, and know that Primary music is in great hands.  Welcome Vicky!
