Library Lessons

This week we have listened to the book We are Australians by Duncan Smith and Nicole Godwin with paintings by Jandamarra Cadd. The amazing words and highly coloured paintings in this book challenged students to think about what it means to be an Australian citizen. What are our rights and responsibilities? What do we feel about our country? Students then listened to a spirituality soundtrack by Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr called Dadirri while trying a picture with bright colours like Jandamarra’s paintings.

Overdue Books

As we approach the end of term it is really important to get overdue books back to the Library.  We currently have a quarter of our school students with an overdue book. Some of these have been missing for quite a while. We need these books to be used by the whole school community. Could you please ask your children about what they have borrowed and if they know where it is. Some students may need help finding the books they borrowed. We will send slips to teachers on Monday to go home with lists of what is still due back.

Holidays

During the last week of the term we will encourage students to take an extra book home for the holidays. The weather this year has certainly been an encouragement to find a warm cosy spot and curl up with a book. We have plenty of new books ready to go at the moment and enjoy seeing students get excited about taking home a brand new book.
