Years 9-10 Boys Football

The intermediate football was held on 7th June in Rochester. It was set to be a very cold day out on the oval for everyone wearing a short sleeve guernsey. The boys launched straight into warm ups as our first round matchup against St Josephs was only minutes away. Unfortunately the results didn’t come our way as we were beaten by a more polished side. We began to show some improvements in the next round against Rochester but unfortunately went down by a couple goals. An inspiring speech from Coach Carver saw the boys lift against Echuca College in the third round. Solid performances by Bailey White, Cohan Hooper, Max Carroll and Archer Guinan saw the boys defeat Echuca College by a handful of goals. The last match of the day was set to be a big one as the boys faced hometown rivals Kyabram P-12 College. Elite performances from Hamish Stewart, Sam Marland and Archer Guinan saw the boys take home the chocolates by 31 points. It was great to see the boys represent the school in a great manner and demonstrate good sportsmanship on the field.

A big thank you to Mr Carver, who coached for the day and Zane, who umpired all games for the day!

Years 7-8 Soccer

The Years 7-8 soccer was held on Thursday 8th June in Moama. It was a perfect day for everyone to be running around due to the very cold weather. Both boys teams wasted no time as they got straight into their first round match ups.

The Year 7 boys only had one match for the day so they battled against St Josephs for the championship. The boys got off to a great start with Antonio DePasquale scoring off a great penalty shot. However St Josephs pulled it back to a draw at half time. A half time rev up from Coach Zane saw the boys storm home to a 2-1 win on the back of a goal from Wil Harrison. Nicholas Barbagallo and Sam O’Neill didn’t let anything through on the defensive end, whilst Archer Backway and Brodie Hipwell provided a great spark in the midfield. The boys put a great team performance together to overcome St Josephs. Well done to the boys who have moved on to the next round in Bendigo.

The Year 8 boys battled hard in their first match, triumphing in the end with a 5-0 win. Riley Carver dominated the midfield as Jedd Turpin proved solid in the forward line against quality defence. Will Poole and Charlie Isaac didn’t let anything through and our goalkeeper, Jimmy Hargreaves, didn’t let the ball touch the net. The boys rallied together in the second round putting on a dominating display of soccer. Jimmy Hargreaves shone up forward with four first half goals. They stormed home to a 13-1 win with Dylan Priest and Charlie Isaac putting on a show on the field. Overall it was a great team performance and the boys displayed great sportsmanship all day. Congratulations to the boys who have advanced to the next stage in Bendigo.

The Year 7 girls had their first round matchup against St Joesph's. The girls came out of the blocks early with a 2-0 start. However at half time St Joseph's had clawed their way back to 2-2. The girls made a few field changes and found a new spark in the second half to take a commanding 9-3 win. Chelsea Robinson led from the front with five goals, with Shylee Donaldson and Penny Mason providing suffocating defence.

It was a tough challenge the Year 8 girls faced against St Joseph's. Unfortunately the results didn’t fall their way but they competed very well all day and never gave up. The best players for their first and only match for the day were Gemma Withall, Joanna Parr, Teaghan Buntine and Charlie Miller. Great job to all the girls who demonstrated great sportsmanship and represented the school well.

It was a great day out in Moama and fantastic to see three out of four teams advance to the regional competition to be held in Bendigo in Term 3.

Years 3/4 Winter Sports

The Years 3-4 sports were held on 2nd June at Kyabram P-12 College. It was a very cold day but all the more reason to run around to get warm. All students were very keen to get the day started as they gathered in their teams. All students participated well in downball, basketball, dodgeball, pony express and capture the flag. A lot of the students were very proud to show off the chocolates they received for showing great sportsmanship. Well done to all involved!

Years 5/6 Winter Sports

The Years 5-6 winter sports was held on 3rd June. The students got to select from a range of sports including netball, AFL 9s, basketball, soccer and euroball. Being on teams with a wide range of schools meant many new friendships were formed throughout the day. It was great to see good sportsmanship and many smiles all day!

Loddon Mallee Cross Country

On Tuesday 3rd May, a small team of students made their way to St Arnaud for the Loddon Mallee Region Cross Country. To say the day was cold would be an understatement, at 12.00pm it felt like 2.4 degrees with a southerly wind. To the students credit, they did a good job given the weather and track conditions. Well done to Cooper O’Neill for qualifying for the State Cross Country event, coming 11th in his age group with a time of 12.15 min for 3km.
